GST Collection Drops To Rs 97,247 Crore In February


GST receipts fell to Rs 97,247 crore from Rs 1,02 lakh crore in February last month, said the Ministry of Finance on Friday.

However, compliance improved and for the month of January to 28 February the number of sales returns or GSTR-3B submitted amounted to 73,48 lakh. This is above 73.3 lakh returns that were filed in January.

The Ministry stated in its statement that' The total gross GST revenues received in February 2019 were Rs 97,247 Crore, of which Central GST was Rs 17,626 Crore, State GST is Rs 24,192 Crore, Integrated GST is Rs 46,953 Crore, and Cess is Rs 8,476 Crore. '

The GST collection is 13.12 percent higher for February 2019 than that of the Rs 85,962 crore in February 2018.

The government has regularly established Rs 19,470 crore in CGST and Rs 15,747 crore in SGST in IGST.

Upon routine payment in February, the Center and state governments collect Rs 37,095 crore for CGST and Rs 39,939 for SGST.

For February, the tax experts gave an explanation for the decrease in GST mop-up estimates to decrease tax levels on 23 goods and services, including movie tickets, TV, power banks and display screens, effective 1 January.


GST's sweaters, drive shafts and cranks, gearboxes, retracted or used pneumatics, lithium battery power stations, digital cameras, camera collectors and video game consoles were lowered to 18 percent from 28 percent.

Abhishek Jain, EY Tax Partner said: "With GST revenues consistent with the average collection during this financial year, it experienced a slight decline in comparison to its previous month.

The 22 December 2018 meeting of the GST Council rationalized the 28% platform and limited the highest plate, apart from the cement, large-screen tv, air conditioners, and dishwashers, to the use of luxury, demerit, and Sinn.

The GST collections for the current fiscal period up to February amounted to Rs 10.70 lakh crore.

In the updated figures, the Government reduced its GST collection goal for the current fiscal year to Rs 11.47 lakh crore from Rs 13.71 lakh crore.

In April GST revenue stood at Rs. 1.03 lakh crore, in May Rs 94.016 crore, in June at Rs 95.610 crore, in July at Rs. 96.483 crore, in August at Rs. 93.960, in September at Rs. 94.442, in October at Rs. 1,00,710 crore, in December 2018 at Rs.

The GST revenue target was estimated at Rs 13.71 lakh crore for the coming fiscal year 2019-20.
